The Beginning

Summer is coming to an End and with that, a new season approaches. I call it the beginning.

Let me begin with a quick introduction. My name is Tara but I sign off on all my artworks as My My Moon. I’ve been doing so for about 10 plus years. When I first began making art, I wanted to be a graffiti artist. I wanted to run around town creating awesome artworks like hidden gems to be found. Thats when I came up with the nickname, because like all great graffiti artists, I needed a new one. However, there was one big problem. I didn’t want to get caught up with the law because I was gonna be an art teacher. I needed to have a career, to pay my bills and give me space to create. From then on my art evolved and moved from slapping stickers to working on canvas with acrylic paint and the occasional oil paint.

Now I’ve got my career and my family, but something is shifting inside me and I want more. Maybe I’m selfish for wanting to pursue art in this world; but at least I will say I tried. I won’t have to deal with the existential crisis on my death bed wondering what could have been. I will have tried and maybe have failed but I will give it an honest effort in pursuing my passion.

So here’s to the beginning of something that should have started long ago. Welcome to My My Moon. Come read along as I balance Work, Family and making Art.
